DIVERSITY SERIES

A Sentient Being: one who perceives and responds to sensations of whatever kind: sight, hearing, touch, taste, or smell. This includes humans, livestock, pets, etc. Sentient beings are a diverse group of creatures that extend much further than those that contain human-like characteristics.

V

Keep it fair.

Each skull is expected to be used interchangeably with the three different descriptors: Intelligent, Deserving, and Sentient, as a part of its diversity campaign. The mission behind this series is to help passersby explore the different possible definitions of these three terms and who they belong to.

( Hint: It may not just be humans. )

Equality

It cannot be denied that humans are held to a different standard than other species when it comes to intelligence. However, unlike other species, we are fortunate enough to have developed the technologies necessary to survive and thrive without the exploitation or harm of other creatures.

Rights

The first step in coexisting with fairness is to recognize the rights that other creatures do and don’t have. While they may not have the right to vote or bear arms like us humans do, they most certainly have the right to express pain and discomfort when inflicted upon by the environment. All rights should be respected and protected.
